Handicap Shield Finals
Having won the East division final on 21st August at Blackpool North Shore, Harwood Ladies’ travelled to Huyton & Prescot Golf Club on 9th September to play in the Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association county finals of the Handicap Shield.Team Harwood team played Rochdale in the morning in the semi-finals and after 5 great matches we won through to the final in the afternoon against Dean Wood.
Weather conditions on the day were not good and in the afternoon were appalling with driving rain and wind. Dean Wood proved to be very tough opposition and eventually won through to take the title of Handicap Shield winners for 2020. We congratulate Dean Wood on their success and applaud everyone involved in the semi-finals and finals on that day for the great spirit in which the matches were played.
We are very proud of these Harwood ladies, pictured above with team captain Jan Southern and all those who have helped us to get this far this year but who couldn’t play in the final. Harwood Ladies have had another outstanding year in this competition and progressed one step further than in 2018.
