Harwood Golf Club has an active ladies’ section which is made up of experienced golfers as well as those new to the game. We are a friendly bunch of individuals who all enjoy what golf has to offer:
Exercise - Fresh Air – Beautiful Scenery - Challenges – Friendships – Fun
We play both competitive golf and social golf. Our competitive golf is played at club level and also externally as we belong to both the Bury and Bolton Golf Associations and the Lancashire, East Lancashire and Manchester and District Golf Associations. There are therefore many opportunities to play at courses throughout Lancashire. Social golf is organised through regular roll ups.
We have a supportive network of ladies who are keen to introduce the wonderful game of golf to newcomers. We have in recent years developed a pathway into golf through taster days and group coaching sessions and these have been extremely successful.
In addition to golf, we have a healthy social calendar and impressive clubhouse facilities.
Bolton Ladies’ Championship
Following the all HARWOOD semi final at the Bolton Championship on Thursday 10th June, Amelia Taylor played Holly Durnian from Chorley Golf Club on Friday. It was an exciting match deserving of a final which went to the last hole with Holly birdying the 18th to win the Championship. Great golf was played by both… Read more »

The draw from 2020 was carried over into 2021 so we travelled to Westhoughton for this first encounter. Our team of… Read more »

All smiles as golf re-opens!
It was all smiles for Harwood Ladies as golf re-opened on Monday 29th March after a 3 month break due to the pandemic. The Club Professional, Dale Affleck, and the Management of the club have worked hard to create a Covid-safe system and environment, allowing its membership to get out onto the course and reacquaint… Read more »
It’s all smiles – we’ve got a fun comp!
Whilst we all take our weekly golf seriously, it’s always particularly enjoyable when we have a fun “team” competition. This was a “Texas Scramble” we played on 16th September (alternate day 12th September) and pictured above, just before heading out onto the course, are the eventual winners, Pauline, Kate and Elaine. This format, which basically… Read more »
Not singing in the rain but golfing in the rain!
Sometimes it does feel like the elements are against us when we are playing golf. This was the 22nd August (yes August!!) and the greens were definitely “going under” as evidenced here on the 17th green. Nothing else to do but mark your ball, walk in and have a hot drink and a hot pie,… Read more »
New To Golf Ladies…….. Getting Into Golf
We are always looking for ladies to join us here at Harwood and we have had a remarkably successful recruitment process over the last 2 or 3 years. Unfortunately, this hasn’t quite gone to plan in 2020 …. Our planned Taster Day in May had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, but we… Read more »

Hello from Dawn Eastland your Lady Captain for this year! It hasn’t been a good start to the year with us all being in lock-down, but I hope you are all finding plenty to do to stop you from going stir crazy! The weather has been very good just because we can’t get out and… Read more »
A great night was enjoyed by all at the Annual Ladies’ Dinner on 6th December. A team of ladies had worked hard to dress the clubhouse with festive decorations and lighting, thus setting the scene for a really lovely evening. After a great meal, followed by Lady Captain’s speech, we all danced the night away… Read more »
Our lovely clubhouse was abuzz with pre Christmas browsing and chatter on 4th November, the occasion of our annual fundraising coffee morning. We had stalls selling perfume, leather goods, printed scarves, decorated bottles and glasses, jewellery and rustic woodwork whilst our lady members had been busy crafting Christmas fancies and decorations. The homemade cake stall… Read more »
