President Janet brings home the trophy, again!

Bolton Challenge Bowl competition is a very prestigious annual competition played over two days. It has been held in Bolton since the 1920s and was introduced by the Lever family, who still generously support the competition.
This year the competition was hosted by Chorley Golf Club on the 4th and 5th of August. Harwood’s Women’s Section fielded nine players on the first day of the competition and although Storm Floris tried its best to dampen their spirits they battled on. In Round One Judith Simms scored a magnificent 74 in division one and Marion Anderson scored 78 in division two. Harwood also scored well in the team competition thanks to Judith and Marion and Eileen Beeney.
On day two, the weather was just as challenging with gusty winds and stray branches littering some of the fairways. However, the conditions did not stop President Janet, who came in with a magnificent nett 69 and, as a result, was the overall winner of the prestigious trophy for higher handicappers. Congratulations Janet and thank you for bringing the trophy back to Harwood again!
Marion Anderson also picked up a prize as runner up in division 2 on day 1. Well done to Marion!
