The annual overnight “picnic” for Harwood women took 32 of us to Wychwood Park near Crewe this year. Superbly organised by Captain Kate and her right-hand woman, Elaine, we were treated to two rounds of very challenging but scenic golf, and fantastic accommodation, dining and “refreshment” throughout our stay. As one of the hardest courses in England we all returned home with fewer balls in our golf bags than we arrived with but this did not dampen our spirits. Winner of the individual competition on day one was Judith Simms who was delighted to win the trophy she had kindly donated some years ago. Winners of the team competition on day two were the team comprising Captain Kate, Elaine Henderson, Kathy Hardman and Val Gittins. A highlight of the weekend away was England Women winning the Euros. We were able to raucously cheer on “our girls” apres golf and before dinner. What a great result!

This trip away is always a highlight of our golfing year and this year was no exception.
